Prior to this appointment, from July 2013 he was in charge of the last phase of the EUR 20 million investment of Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow as the leader of the hotel, as well as the overseer of its repositioning. Before Moscow, he directed the Chinese flagship of Kempinski, Hotel Beijing Lufthansa for 3 and a half years.
From September 1, he retuns to Budapest as the general manager of the Budapest Kempinski Hotel, in which he had a key role in its renovation between 1997 and 2004. While his predecessor, Emile Bootsma carried out the renewal of the ground floor and introduced the new concept of gastronomy in the hotel, Interthal renewed the rooms, the suites, the spa and the restaurant during his previous management.
Stephan Interthal graduated from Cornell University and obtained his MBA degree at Reims Managament School in 2000. He is a real innkeeper; he has directed such prestigious hotels as Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski in Munich and the legendary Hotel Adlon in Berlin. He has over 30 years of professional experience in the hotel industry. His main goal is to ensure that guests always receive impeccable service, what is more, he tries to surpass their expectations.
In addition to his mother tongue, German-born Interthal speaks fluent English, and French at a conversational level. He is passionate about good food, great wines and hospitality. In his free time, he travels a lot and plays golf.
