Home for the Zsolnay porcelain

Pécs has become synonymous with Zsolnay porcelain; the unusual type of porcelain with its characteristic metallic colour and shine is due to eosin glaze. In the early XXth century, besides ceramic tableware, the company’s most famous product was ceramic tiles for buildings that Budapest and Viennese secession (art nouveau) architects had a special liking for. The so-called Zsolnay quarter is now a bustling, cultural centre on the terrain of the old factory.
